Here is brief overview of steps to help us get the most information possible about a crash.
First of all, make sure that you can boot the system normally, then perform the steps depicted in the screenshots attached and described in the following list. The dialogs may be slightly different depending on your operating system version and will of course vary between different languages.
Note: The settings described are usually default on most systems. So it may not be necessary to follow these steps and might be sufficient to just copy the existing minidump file with the matching timestamp (last two steps in the list).
Again: After a crash, that you think was caused by our product, the first step is to check %SystemRoot%\MiniDump (usually C:\WINDOWS\MiniDump) for entries dated at the time of the crash. If there are any, please send them instead of going through this procedure.- Right-click "My Computer" and click "Properties", a dialog similar to the one in the first screenshot should show up.
- Visit the tab "Advanced" and find the section "Startup and Recovery" to click the "Settings" button therein. (second screenshot)
- Find the section "System Failure" and make sure the selection list says "Small memory dump (64 KB)". (third screenshot)
- Reboot once. (This is often not nesessary, but to make sure it works, it is included here)
- Now (re)install the product and try to reproduce the fault.
- If you could reproduce the fault, please go to the folder %SystemRoot%\MiniDump (usually C:\WINDOWS\MiniDump) and pick the file whose timestamp correlates to the crash observed in the previous step.
- Pack the file (optional) and contact the following two users here in the forum via a private message: Krissi and Oliver. Include the reported error (bug check) code from the blue screen. If the BSOD disappeared too fast, start "eventvwr" after restart and search for the event which was logged about the blue screen - it will show the code. Alternatively you can contact us via email through the following email address: driver-developers att f-prot dott com.
After contacting us via PM, more information might be required and the steps would be described in an individual message and contact via email may be established. So it would be favorable if you include your email contact information in your PM already.
